Avalon Announces Strategic Hires, Organization Changes, and Midwest Region Expansion

Key moves support ongoing growth and broadened Enterprise solutions delivery capabilities

Plano, Texas – July 21, 2015 – Avalon Consulting, LLC recently completed a series of strategic personnel moves. These moves, designed to support the company’s continued growth and expansion due to its leadership in envisioning and delivering innovative custom Big Data (Enterprise NoSQL and Hadoop), Search, and Digital Asset Management solutions, included external hiring of key industry professionals and creation of new roles within the company. Senior level additions occurred in both business management and technology architecture functions. The organizational changes will facilitate Avalon’s ability to address client needs in the Midwest region and to provide repeatable solution frameworks expediting client success, mitigating project risk, and lowering overall cost of delivery.

Personnel Additions

Senior Technology Architecture

Sean Dowd. Dowd joins Avalon as VP & Chief Architect in the Plano, TX headquarters. Prior to joining Avalon, Dowd was a Distinguished Technologist at HP. He served as Chief Architect for Applications Business Services as well as Chief Technologist in the Enterprise Services Office of the CTO. He has 28 years of professional experience in Enterprise application development and architecture.

Andy Cohan. Cohan joins Avalon as Regional Technology Director for the Midwest Region. Prior to joining Avalon, Cohan served as Senior Engineer for Chemical Abstracts Service.  Cohan’s 27 years of professional experience in Enterprise solutions delivery includes senior level technical roles at Sitel and EDS, and technical leadership for the western region of Viant Corporation.

Senior Business Management

Doug Gattuso. Gattuso joined Avalon as Regional Managing Director for the Midwest and is based in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to joining Avalon, Gattuso served as Sr. VP of Sales at Utopia Global, Inc, a SAP Partner focused on Master Data Governance. He previously held the role of President at Neoris USA, overseeing growth of 500% during his tenure, and as a Managing Director and Partner at CSC Consulting Group in Dallas. Since joining Avalon, Gattuso has directed the company’s expansion to the Minneapolis and St. Louis markets.

Stu Nelson. Nelson joins Avalon as the Managing Director of the new Minneapolis office. Nelson previously served as Managing Director of Computer Sciences Corporation’s Minnesota Business Unit in Minneapolis with geographic responsibility for all clients in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Upper Michigan, and portions of Central and Western Canada. Over his 30+ year IT industry career, Nelson has managed enterprise delivery in the areas of business reengineering, business process redesign, IT transformation, business strategy and technology vision, and application development across a wide range of industries. Nelson additionally served for ten years in the United States Air Force. Nelson joins the growing Midwest practice under the helm of Gattuso.

Organizational Changes

Chad Chatfield. Chatfield has assumed the newly created role VP of Solutions Engineering for Avalon. He will be responsible for strategic consulting to clients on enterprise architecture and solution frameworks related to emerging and disruptive technologies. He previously served as a Managing Director in Avalon’s National Consulting Practice.

John Holshey. Holshey has assumed the Managing Director position vacated by Chatfield. He has over 30 years of enterprise delivery experience and had previously served in an account management role on the National Practice team.

Sean Hall. Hall has been named as Practice Director for the new St. Louis office, also working under Gattuso. He has over 20 years of enterprise IT experience, with 8 years of experience as a Senior Consultant with Avalon.
